Queensland College of Art and Design and Woodcrest State College students have worked together to create a new artwork for the school amenities. Through collaboration and conversation during a lively workshop event the final artwork is a co-designed feature that transforms this space into a place that is welcoming and inclusive and where students feel a sense of ownership and agency in their school environment.
Collective Icons is a celebration of communication and connection. Students engaged in a collaborative workshop to develop individual artwork details and iconic expressive images to appeal to their peers. This design recreates the handmade at a large-scale connecting each component through a patchwork technique which brings the individual into a collective overall conversation.
“Students at Woodcrest State College have gained an understanding of what it will be like to study art and design after high school.”
